Thank you for your clear-eyed analysis of our challenges and for lighting a path for what is required to lead us out of this mess.

I hope every candidate reads your post! Thank you for your honesty about reality versus political theater.

This is extremely interesting. There is a lot of food for thought here, and I think it's a very useful framework.

While I wouldn't say I am certain though, I don't quite agree with the gloomy outlook. I agree that the Leg is overspending, but I don't agree that deficits are permanent. I dislike AI and I kind of don't want it, but, it might result in surpluses. And I think that we have significant waste in our health system - and if this could ever be fixed, people would be just as healthy and it wouldn't cost them anything. (I'm not saying it would be easy!) To me, term limits are a very, very big part of our problems - people get termed out before they know much.

Without a definition of "the problem" though, it's hard to have a detailed discussion.

I will look up these thinkers.

Thank you - this was a great read.

Excellent analysis. When people ask me why homelessness in LA seems so intractable, I tell them the root cause is structural and philosophical. LA's homelessness interventions have been built around an approach that's more than 30 years old, yet no serious candidate is willing to discuss that, except in the negatives, as in "this isn't working" while offering their own simplistic solutions. The entire homelessness ecosystem needs to be challenged, redefined, and restructured.
